Super fast! Tuesday night 7:30, 10 min for takeout order! General Tso Chicken Dinner, comes with pork fried rice and Egg Roll $7.98 after tax. Definitely will be coming back!

Food is okay, I should have been more careful to ask about chicken stock in pork soup; would have been nice to know that to avoid allergy. Also, not the quietest place to eat-in. I only do take out because of the shouting between kitchen staff / order takers. Not 'mad'; they appear to only know how to communicate via shouting

If you hanker for greasy-spoon American-style Chinese food, this hits the spot. It's crave a bowl snack and I will definitely hit it up next time I'm nursing a hangover. However, it's not very complex or subtle food - it's plain and simple and greasy. The lemon chicken was just pieces of chicken with a fried branding and a sweet and sour lemon dipping sauce. Nothing else. Very good in a junk food way but not very complex. Very mild and plain for all palates. Lo mein is as you'd expect, greasy noodles and tasty veggies. Egg rolls are crispy, big and tasty with a sweet dipping sauce. If you're looking for Asian haute cuisine, this is not it. But if you want a diner style Americanized simple salty-greasy-sweet hit of Chinese food, this is on the mark.

The price is right. The service is super friendly, even if it's unexpectedly from a 14 year old! It's a total family operation, which I like. The food was tasty, but not great. Chicken was kinda mushy and thin, and there was too much sauce on the rice. Egg roll wasn't the best or worst. So Hong Kong Kitchen is in the middle. Not too great, not too bad. It's fast and cheap. Fills the belly fur sure and the taste is good. It gets 3 stars for food and 4 for service , speed and price. Recommended for a quick dinner that won't break the bank.

If you want good cheap Chinese this is your place! I normally go just for lunch and they are fast and cheap!! The portions are big and I normally get an extra meal out of them. I haven't eaten in but it always seems to have people wanting to get out of their office for a minute or two and sit to enjoy their lunch.

I flew into Burlington Airport late on Friday night, Oct. 12 and didn't know the area at all. I saw the restaurant off the road and went in and ordered to-go. The people who work there are very pleasant. The food was tasty (chicken, broccoli, rice and egg roll)) and the portion was big. I wanted to try their lunch special but didn't get around to it. Good basic Chinese food, cooked after you order it and served quickly. What more could you want? Open late.

I love this place and I never get Chinese food anywhere else. It's a small place, mostly for takeout with a few little tables in the waiting area. I like that it is set up this way and they're not trying to be a sit down restaurant. Although they could because it's also very clean and the staff is friendly. All of their sauces like sweet and sour, and duck sauce are homemade and really fantastic. Portions are huge, enough for a second or even third meal. This place is great, trust me..go there!!

I have to write a review of this place so I can remind myself to stop going. I am still on the look out for a good Chinese take out place. This location is right near where I live, so it would have worked out great if their food was decent. The reviews on Yelp were quite promising... However, after trying this place multiple times, I cannot recommend it at all. It is just not good. As the other reviewers noted, the prices are low and the portions are large. But I couldn't even bring myself to save the left overs for later; it was that bad. They can't even get basic Chinese items done properly -- General Tsao's chicken, fried rice, egg rolls. The General Tsao's chicken barely had any chicken; it was mostly breading and the sauce wasn't good. The fried rice just didn't taste good. It didn't have any good flavor; but it was plenty salty... hard to describe. The people who own this place are very nice though. That's partly why I gave it an extra star. The lady said they bought the place about 2 years ago from some Hong Kong people, so I bet back in the day, the food was a lot better. If anyone has another suggestion for good Take Out food... please drop me a line. Next up, I want to try Fuda and China Express (in the old North End, not the Shelburne Rd one). Then I'm out of options...

Decided to try Hong Kong Kitchen based on the two reviews that averaged a 5 star rating, and I'm very glad that I did!! I'm very impressed with just about everything about this place. It seemed very clean, though I didn't try the bathroom, so I can't speak to that. I chatted with the young woman who was handling the phones/counter/register, etc, and from what she said I gather that this is her family running the business (her husband was going to be coming in soon to work, and her daughter was seated at a table, giggling with a friend or perhaps a young family member - a great and very friendly atmosphere!). They finished cooking my order while I waited, which took just a few minutes, and it was totally worth it. I got my food home hotter than I have ever had any takeout before, even if it was made while I waited, the same as here! Perhaps it was the unique alignment of the planets (or something similar) that made us completely ignore the notes in the other review(s) about the large servings, but for whatever reason, ignore them we did, because we both ordered the #8 dinner special (General Tso's Chicken, with pork fried rice and an egg roll) for $6.50 each (!!), plus a large order of crab rangoon (9 pieces for $5.75!!) - our whole dinner came to less than $21 - pretty good right? Well, let's put it this way - there was soooo much food, we could eat less than a quarter of it!!! The rest of it is packed away for another, hmmm... 3 or 4 meals for TWO!!! So, aside from the quantity, which doesn't really impress me (except in relation to quality and price), what about the quality? This is where they really scored points - all of it was very good!! Not one thing had a single drop of oil/grease more than it should have, and this delightful non-greasiness is a real rare standout in the "Very Affordable Chinese Takeout" category in this area lately!!! Both the egg rolls and the crab rangoon were positively dry to the touch, fabulous. Speaking of the rangoon, they were really good as far as that category goes in this area; very "crabby" cream cheese mixture, with chunks of scallions, and the pockets were stuffed FULL, not full of air like some places. Nice, and good flavor. The pork fried rice had some oil on it, as appropriate, and had nice size chunks of pork, onions, and some scrambled egg in it too, and was not too salty (something I am very sensitive about)! The General Tso's chicken was fabulous, possibly the best I've had in a very long time (though it is something I order infrequently). The heat was just right, nice and spicy so you really feel it, and then it dissipates quickly with a soft remembrance of its' pleasure on your tongue, but not so spicy it blows your head off, or even so much that you can't stand it - perfect. Something else about the sauce though, hard to define. It wasn't a simple sauce. It had a lovely multidimensional quality to it, a background of garlic, and other things I couldn't quite pick out the flavors of... but it was awesome!!! The chicken itself was breaded nicely, not so thickly that the meat couldn't be tasted. I could see that the meat was chicken, and when I tried some without the breading, it tasted like chicken; however, at times while eating it withe the breading and sauce, it had a very rich and lovely, pork-like flavor. A great experience, great food, and great service! Now that I know their portion sizes though, I know that for the same meal I should only order one #8 dinner special, with a small order of crab rangoon ($3.75) for two of us plus one more person, and that should be about right!! I highly recommend the Hong Kong Kitchen - for inexpensive [Americanized] Chinese food, this place is great!! UPDATE: I have gone back since this first visit, and had a very similar experience. I got the lemon chicken, and they give a big tub of lovely, not-sweet lemon sauce on the side, so that the chicken maintains its' crispiness right up until you eat it. And - oh yeah! - they use real lemons, putting lovely fresh slices in the sauce and around the chicken for garnish! Fabulous place!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
